Installation

Requirements

Install the package

From your Umbraco site's project directory:

bash
dotnet add package Arjo.Umbraco.WeglotTranslator

Or use the NuGet Package Manager and search for Arjo.Umbraco.WeglotTranslator.

What gets added

On the next build and application start, the package:

  • Runs a package migration that creates an empty ArjoWeglotLanguages table in your Umbraco database. No languages are added for you; you choose them in the backoffice (see Managing languages).
  • Adds an Umbraco Translator - Weglot item under Settings → Advanced in the backoffice.
  • Ships the language switcher and hreflang partial views, and the switcher stylesheet.

Nothing is translated until you've added a Weglot API key and at least one language. On any hostname other than localhost, you also need a licence key.

Next steps

  1. Configure your API key
  2. Add your licence key (not needed on localhost)
  3. Add a language
  4. Set up your front end: add the language switcher and hreflang links to your layout

Umbraco Translator is a commercial package — a licence is required for production use.
